India's youngest CEO Sharvan and Sanjay Kumaran... two brothers from Chennai ...

Shravan Kumaran and his younger sibling Sanjay Kumaran are perhaps India's youngest entrepreneurs. Shravan, 14, is the president and Sanjay, 12, is the CEO of Go Dimensions, an app development unit that they founded two years ago from their bedroom in their home in Chennai.

On Saturday, they stood before the 5,500 attendees at an SAP event in Bangalore, and talked about how to ideate, and draw up a business plan. "You should have a strong idea, self-confidence, a good business plan and know about sources of funding," said Sanjay with the confidence that you normally only see in much older people. And he then went on to ask: "Have you heard of dad funding?" The crowd roared.

In the past two years the two have developed eleven apps that are available on the Apple App Store and Google's Android Play Store. The apps have received over 35,000 downloads. Their first app -- Catch Me Cop on the Apple App Store -- was released last year and was a hit. That was a game where a con escapes prison and a wide hunt is launched for him. There are chases through a desert, beach and a maze.

"Abdul Kalam (former president of India) once came to our school and he loved playing Catch me Cop," recalled Sanjay. Shravan is in class 9 and Sanjay in class 7 at the Vael's Billabong International High School in Chennai.

Since the two are less than 18 years, Go Dimensions cannot be registered in their names as per Indian law. So the registration is in the names of seven of their family members who are above 18.

Today, a spare room in their Chennai home is a digital lounge filled with Apple Macs, iPads and Samsung Galaxy Notes. The ''after homework hours'' are spent on coding and debugging test apps, while nibbling on cheese fritters and lasagna. Recently, they launched an action game called Extreme Impossible 5 or EI5.

"We developed more than 150 test apps before releasing the first app, Catch Me Cop. That app was launched within a week of submission to Apple, and that was really exciting. Another app, Alphabet Board, got a rating of 5 on the app store," said Shravan, who credits Apple founder Steve Jobs for inspiring him to be what he is today. "Jobs is the big daddy of clean and intuitive user interfaces and who changed the way we communicate. And how can I forget his famous line, `Stay hungry, Stay foolish'," he said.

Despite their star status, they have their feet on the ground. "Some of the teachers told them they would be more productive at home than coming to school," said their mother and former journalist Jyothi Lakshmi. But they are clear they will attend classes regularly, and also pursue their love for cricket and the keyboard. They admire Dhoni for his aggressive play.

The boys credit their father Kumaran Surendran, director with anti-virus and security solutions company Symantec, for encouraging them to learn programming and play with gadgets. They learnt QBasic, a programming language for beginners, when Shravan was in his fifth grade and Sanjay in his third grade. They learnt to code on Java by reading books and information available on the internet.

Programming on Apple's iOS required a bit of handholding from their dad.

This is an incredible achievement by two brothers Sharvan and Sanjay Kumaran as they have launched their own mobile application firm.

Aged only 14 and 12 respectively !!!

Sharvan is the Co-founder and President of "GO DIMENTIONS" while his brother is Co-founder and CEO.

The two brother are the youngest CEO's of India and also youngest promoters of a company who are studying in class 10th and class 8 at a Chennai school.

When most adults have trouble in understanding Java code,these two kids have used the code to build mobile applications.

The brothers have developed 11 appsfor the Apple Store(eg:Catch me cop,Alphabet board etc.)

Which have been down loaded more than 35,000 times from 20 countries !!!

Their role model is Steve Jobs(co-founder of Apple).

The brothers usually quotes Steve's famous saying,

"Stay hungry, Stay foolish" in their interviews.

In a smart city, economic development and activity is sustainable and rationally incremental by virtue of being based on success-oriented market drivers such as supply and demand. They benefit everybody, including citizens, businesses, the government and the environment.

I am very happy for the Initiative taken by the Gov. of Odisha. Hope by smart city plan Bhubaneswar will be most valuable city from economical point of view. Top infrastructure is most important because most of big companies are not in BBSR, which is creating problem for job creating. Most of Oriya young people are going to out of state for job. If more job can create in Bhubaneswar by industrial development then job problem can solve.

What is Delhi's new odd-even vehicle rule all about?

 

The Delhi government's new odd-even vehicle rule is applied from last January 1 in New Year, here are a few things you should know.

The Delhi government's new proposed rule to run vehicles with odd and even numbers on alternate days incurred much flak from social media users soon after being announced on December 4.

But despite all that, the system is scheduled to be implemented in Delhi from January 1, 2016. Keeping that in mind, here are a few things to know you could learn about it:

What exactly is the odd-even vehicle rule?

The AAP cabinet announced private vehicles will be allowed to run across the city based on their registration numbers. For example, if a vehicle's registration number ends with an odd digit, it will be allowed on the road on January 1, while that ending with an even number can be driven on the second, and so on.

This step has been taken as a measure to bring down and control pollution in Delhi.

Few things to know about it

1. Private vehicles with odd registration numbers will be allowed on the road on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

2. Vehicles with even numbers will run on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Nothing has been finalized about Sundays yet.

3. This rule will not be applicable on emergency vehicles like PCR vans, fire tenders and ambulances, and on public transports like CNG-driven buses, taxis and auto-rickshaws.

4. Good news for bike owners, for the government has decided to exempt two-wheeler from this rule.

5. This system, therefore, will be applicable only on private-owned four wheeler running across Delhi, and on those coming in from other states. And that includes vehicles used by ministers and bureaucrats of all ranks.

6. The government has added the public transport will be strengthened from the first of January. This will include increasing the frequency of metro trains across the city.

7. Responding to the raging criticism, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has said this system will be tested for 15 days and will be scrapped if it does not work for the citizens.

Other rules being implied along

1. Side Trucks will not be allowed to run across Delhi until 11pm.

2. All vehicles will have to follow the standards of Euro VI 2017.

3. The Delhi government has also decided to shut down the Badarpur power plant in southern Delhi, which is one of the coal-based plants of the NTPC.

The shocking terror attack at the Pathankot Indian Air Force base marked a somewhat gruesome beginning of the New Year for India.

Timeline

December 30-31: A group of six terrorists entered India through the Kathua-Gurdaspur border in Punjab.

December 31, Thursday, Night: The terrorists took an Innova car from a taxidriver, Ikagar Singh, who they killed near the Kathlor Bridge. However, the car broke down shortly and at about 11:30 pm, they carjacked Gurdaspur SP Salwinder Singh and abducted him in his own car.

January 1, Friday, Early Morning: The terrorists had thought Singh to be a commoner, but on finding out he was a policeman, they pushed him off the car. At around 3 am, Singh gained his consciousness and alerted the local police about the terrorists. Allegedly, the police did not pay heed to his claims.

January 1, Friday, Afternoon: The center issued an alert about terrorists being present at Pathankot. The NSA convened meetings with senior officials and a band of NSG commandos was dispatched to the location.

January 2, Saturday: At around 3:30 am, the terrorists breached IAF base security. When they were detected with thermal imaging, attack copters were used to attack them with rockets. Four terrorists were killed by evening. 1 IAF commando and 1 jawan were martyred in the process. The Home Minister announced that the operation was over successfully.

January 3, Sunday: At around 10 am, NSG Lt. Col. Niranjan died in a grenade blast while inspecting a terrorist’s body; five others were also injured, of which 3 died in hospital.

At around 12:20 pm, firing resumed from 2 different locations, indicating more terrorists were still present. Security forces neutralized both terrorists, and all six terrorists were confirmed dead by Monday.

January 4-5: Combing of the Pathankot air base continues till the area can be rendered safe.

Other Facts about the Attack:

• United Jihad Council, a conglomerate of 13 Kashmiri militant groups based in Pakistan, claimed responsibility of the attack. Indian intelligence agencies had, however, accused Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists for the attack.

• All the terrorists were heavily armed and well-trained. Each of them carried around 6 kg of RDX.

• It is being suspected that the explosives and ammunitions were smuggled into India beforehand, as it is difficult for six people to carry so much ammunition.

• Combing operations might continue for a day or two longer, but high alert will continue till Republic Day.

• More than 1500 families are living inside the 20 sq. km area of the air base. Combing the huge area is taking a long time.
