Why Is India Called ‘Hindustan’ ... If It Is A Secular Country?

Let me tell you a secret: Hindustan is derived from Indus, not Hindus.

From Wikipedia:
Secular: Not Connected with religious or spiritual matters

Hindustan (Hindi: हिन्दुस्तान) both Hindustan, Hindoostand or Indostan, literally "land of the Indus", is a popular name for the Indian subcontinent

Hindustan is derived from the Modern Persian word Hindu. In Old Persian, the region beyond the Indus River was referred to as Hindus (which in turn is derived from Sindhu, the Sanskrit name for the river), hence Modern Persian Hind and (as a borrowing) Hindu. This combined with the Iranian suffix -Stan (cognate to Sanskrit Sthana, both meaning "place" results in Hindustan, as the land on the other side (from Persia) of the Indus.

"Hindustan" is made up of 2 words, "Hind" and "Stan".

Hind in Arabic language translates to "Ind" in Latin, as in Indus River. Thus pointing to the land where river Indus Flows. Hence Hindustan is nothing to do with any religion. It's exactly the same as India in Latin, which again means Land of Indus River. And people living in "Hindustan" are called Hindus in the Middle Eastern tongues, relating to Indian in Latin borne languages. Again it has nothing to do with any religion. And it is for a fact that all Indians are Hindus, irrespective of what religion they practice. Hinduism is not a religion per say, it is "the way of life, of people/civilization which began and flourished along River Indus".

Please do not make a mess of "Hindustan" with stupid questions born out of ignorance.

Get your facts right!

The Butterfly Effect Theory ... !

The Butterfly Effect Theory

Recently I watched a film on 13th Jan 2016 “Nanaku Prematho” and I am totally impressed with the direction part the way the director directed the film. The film is based on father sentiment but the basic theory behind the film is “Butterfly Effect Theory”. First time I agree with the director’s style of narrating the story with a small theory which will continue till the end of the film.

What is the Butterfly Effect?

In chaos theory, the butterfly effect is the sensitive dependence on initial conditions in which a small change in one state of a deterministic nonlinear system can result in large differences in a later state.

The Chaos theory is a field of study in mathematics which studies the behavior of dynamical systems that are highly sensitive to initial conditions—a response popularly referred to as the butterfly effect.

To explain it in a simple manner, the butterfly effect theory states that when a butterfly moves its wings somewhere in the world it can cause a tornado in another part of the world.

This might sound like an unrealistic assumption, How can a slight change like that one result in a big one such as a tornado?

Here is an example that will help you understand the Butterfly Effect theory in real life.

A man was working in a company where he was mistreated by his manager and after months of being disrespected by his arrogant boss he decided to quit.

Before the man left the company he spoke about it to the other employees and the result was that three other people decided to quit too.

When those people found themselves unemployed they decided to start their own business.

After some time and a lot of hard work their business became a very successful to the extent that they started competing with the company they used to work for.

Under the pressure of the fierce competition the old company declared bankruptcy!!

Didn't you just notice the Butterfly Effect theory in that example!! The mistreatment of a single employee resulted in the bankruptcy of the company years later.

This is what the Butterfly Effect theory is all about, a small unnoticeable change can result in a very big one later on.

How to Make Use of the Butterfly Effect theory

I bet that there are many changes that you want to make in your life but in the same time you can't do them because you believe that you don't have enough resources.

Here is where the butterfly effect theory can come into play, by focusing on doing very small tasks each day you will be able to experience very big changes as time passes.

Want to see how the butterfly effect theory can improve your life?

Here is an example that can show you how to take advantage of the butterfly effect:

Waking up thirty minutes earlier:
If you woke up just 30 minutes earlier each day you will be able to do some new things such as exercising. After few weeks you will become fit, your self-image will improve and consequently your self-confidence will. The improvement in your self-confidence will positively affect your career, health and relationships!! That was another example of the butterfly effect theory. A very small change has produced very big results.

Simple Theory which gives unrealistic things but the theory works for all the activities that happens in our daily life.

                                                      Everything is Inter-connected...

Benefits of Surya Namaskar ... !

Surya Namaskara is a series of twelve physical postures. These alternating backward and forward bending postures flex and stretch the spinal column through their maximum range giving a profound stretch to the whole body.

Often, after a hard day’s work, we would just flop down on the couch * apparently * relaxing our bodies - but it is NOT so. The stagnant energies remain locked up and the organs remain de-oxygenated to a large extent.

Surya Namaskar has a deep effect in detoxifying the organs through copious oxygenation and has a deeper relaxing effect.

Some of the benefits of Surya Namaskar:
  • Tones up the digestive system by the alternate stretching and compression of abdominal organs. It activates digestion and gets rid of constipation and dyspepsia.
  • Strengthens abdominal muscles.
  • Thoroughly ventilates the lungs, and oxygenates the blood.
  • Acts as detoxifying agent, by getting rid of enormous quantity of carbon dioxide and other toxic gases.
  • Promotes sleep and calms anxiety.
  • Tones up the nervous system and improves memory.
  • Normalizes the activity of the endocrine glands - especially the thyroid gland.
  • Refreshes the skin. Prevents Skin disorders.
  • Improves muscle flexibility.
  • In women, stimulates the breasts to help firmness normally. Restores any lost elasticity, through stimulation of glands and the strengthening of pectoral muscles.
  • Menstrual irregularity and assists in easy childbirth.
  • Suppresses
  • Prevents loss of hair and graying.
  • Helps reduce fat.
  • Reduces abnormal prominence of the Adam's apple.
  • Eliminates unpleasant smells from the body.
  • Lends grace and ease of movements to the body.
  • Revives and maintains the spirit of youthfulness.
  • Broadens chest and beautifies arms.
  • Makes the spine and waist flexible.
  • Produces health, strength, efficiency and longevity.

Who should NOT do Surya Namaskar?
  • Pregnant women should not practice this after third month of pregnancy.
  • Patients of Hernia and high blood pressure are warned against this practice.
  • People suffering from back conditions should seek proper advice before commencing Surya Namaskar.
  • Women should avoid Surya Namaskara during menses.

How to do?
As mentioned Surya Namaskar is a flowing series of 12 yoga postures. These are described below.
Synchronizing the breath with the movements of the body is very important. The basic breathing principle is to inhale during backward bending postures and exhale during forward bending postures.

The Twelve Postures
1. Pranamasana (Salutation posture)
Stand erect with feet together. Join the palms together in front of the chest. Concentrate on standing straight, steady and in a prayerful attitude. This posture helps to induce a state of introversion, relaxation and calmness. It activates the anahata chakra. Exhale fully.

2. Hastauttanasana (Raised arm posture)
Inhaling stretch both arms above the head, palms facing upward. Arch the back and stretch the whole body. This posture stretches the chest and the abdomen and lifts the Prana (energy) upward to the upper parts of the body propelled by inhalation.

3. Padahastasana (Hand to foot posture)
Exhaling bend the body forward and down, keeping the spine straight. Avoid collapsing the chest or "over-rounding" the upper back. Keep the legs straight and perpendicular to the ground. The knees may be allowed to bend a little if needed. This posture massages the abdominal organs, especially the liver, kidneys, pancreas, adrenals, uterus and ovaries. The power of digestion increases and female disorders such as prolapse and menstrual irregularities are relieved. A healthy flow of blood is sent to the spinal nerves as they are stretched and toned. The hamstring muscles at the back of the thigh and calf muscles are stretched and toned. Inversion increases blood flow to the brain. The Prana is channeled to the lower regions of the body propelled by exhalation.

4. Ashwa Sanchalanasana (Equestrian posture)
On your next inhalation, extend the left leg back and drop the knee to the ground. The right knee is bent and kept between the hands and the right foot placed flat on the ground. Lift the spine and open the chest. Concentrate at the eyebrow center.

5. Parvatasana (Mountain posture)
On the exhalation bring the right leg back to join with the left leg. Simultaneously raise the buttocks and lower the head between the arms, so that the body forms a triangle with the floor. Try to place the heels flat on the ground. Focus awareness at the neck area. This posture strengthens the nerves and muscles in the arms and legs, stretches the calf muscles and Achilles' tendons and makes the spine straight and taut. It relieves varicose veins and tones spinal nerves. Maintaining the posture take a deep inhalation.

6. Ashtanga Namaskara (Salutation with eight limbs)
Exhaling gently drop both knees to the ground and slowly slide the body down at an angle as you bring the chest and chin to the ground. All eight limbs - toes, knees, chest, hands and chin - touch the floor. The buttocks are kept up. Hold the breath. This posture develops the chest and strengthens arms. It sends additional blood to this area helping to rejuvenate the nerves.

7. Bhujangasana (Cobra posture)
On the inhalation, lower the hips while pushing the chest forward and upward with the hands, until the spine is fully arched and the head is facing up. The knees and lower abdomen remain above the floor. Focus the awareness at the base of spine and feel the tension from the forward pull. This pose gives dynamic expansion to the organs of the chest and abdomen, relieving many ailments such as asthma, constipation, indigestion, kidney and liver problems. It is very helpful in relieving tension in the back muscles and spinal nerves.

8. Parvatasana (Mountain posture)
Exhale and get back to posture 5.

9. Ashwa Sanchalanasana (Equestrian posture)
Inhale and swing the right leg forward between the hands. The left leg remains back. Resume posture 4.

10. Padahastasana (Hand to foot posture)
Exhaling, bring the left foot forward. Join both legs and resume posture 3.

11. Hastauttanasana (Raised arm posture)
Inhale, raise the trunk up and bend backward. Resume posture 2.

12. Pranamasana (Salutation posture)
Straighten the body and bring the hands in front of the chest. Resume posture 1.

The above constitutes one half of a round of Surya Namaskara. To complete the other half the same movements are repeated except that the right leg is brought back in posture 4 and the left foot is brought forward in posture 9. So one full round consists of the exercises done twice. Practice up to 6 rounds in the morning and 6 rounds in the evening.

When the exercises are done a little quickly, the gain is more physical while if they are done slowly with breath awareness the gain is more mental and spiritual.

Incorporate the Surya Namaskar into your daily routine and make a positive difference to your life.

Girls Awareness ...

In India -
1. Go to school, teacher rapes you,
2. Go to movies - 5 guys in a bus rape you,
3. Stay at home - neighbor rapes you,
4. Go to a club and 22 guys molest you on video,
5. Go to a police station and you are advised not to file FIR.

Please spread these some useful points to all those women you care & spread awareness as this is the least we can do for a social & moral cause and for the safety of women....!!!

1) What should a woman do if she finds herself alone in the company of a strange male as she prepares to enter a lift in a high-rise apartment late at night?

Experts Say: Enter the lift. If you need to reach the 13th floor, press all the buttons up to your destination. No one will dare attack you in a lift that stops on every floor.

2) What to do if a stranger tries to attack you when you are alone in your house, run into the kitchen.

Experts Say: You alone know where the chili powder and turmeric are kept. And where the knives and plates are. All these can be turned into deadly weapons. If nothing else,
start throwing plates and utensils all over.
Let them break. Scream.

Remember that noise is the greatest enemy of a molester. He does not want to be caught.

3) Taking an Auto or Taxi at Night.

Experts Say: Before getting into an auto at night, note down its registration number. Then use the mobile to call your family or friend and pass on the details to them in
the language the driver understands .
Even if no one answers your call, pretend you are in a conversation.

The driver now knows someone has his details and he will be in serious trouble if anything goes wrong. He is now bound to take you home safe and sound

4) What if the driver turns into a street he is not supposed to - and you feel you are entering a danger zone?

Experts Say: Use the handle of your purse or your stole (dupatta) to wrap around his neck and pull him back. Within seconds, he will feel choked and helpless. In case you
don’t have a purse or stole just pull him back by his collar. The top button of his shirt would then do the same trick.

5) If you are stalked at night.

Expert Say: Enter a shop or a house and explain your predicament. If it is night and shops are not open, go inside an ATM box. ATM centers always have security guards. They are also monitored by close circuit television.

Fearing identification, no one will dare attack you.

After all, being mentally alert is the greatest weapon you can ever have.

Please spread it to all those women you care & spread awareness as this is the least we can do for a social & moral cause and for the safety of women....!!!
